Chocolate Factory in FitzroyChocolate Factory at the corner of Smith and Johnston Streets, Fitzroy on the left, Collingwood on the right, circa 1905 Join us on a memorable walk through the Chocolate History of Victoria! Every first and third Sunday plus any day Wednesday-Saturday by appointment.

Gambol through the “Great White Chocolate City” (once employing 3,000 people). Learn about the "Chocolate King of Victoria", MacPherson Robertson, inventor of Freddo Frog, Cherry Ripe and Old Gold.

Walk through the secret chocolate laneways. See where Mac. began his business. Learn about his biggest successes and his modest beginnings, all within a few blocks. Peek into Mac's private life. Also walk by other famous chocolatiers in the neighbourhood. Tour finishes with a spectacular Chocolate Tasting High Tea at Mámor Chocolates.

Robertson aka Dr Howard FrederickAside from being a professional chocolatier owner/manager, Howard is also an honorary professor at Deakin University where he researches business entrepreneurship, especially Victorian-era entrepreneurs. Time: 9:50am (for a 10:00am start).  Or by appointment.

Duration is approximately 1 1/2 hours plus 30-60 minute Chocolate Tasting & High Tea.

Length is about 2.5 km.

Meeting place: Will be emailed upon registration. Is in the centre of Fitzroy near the 86 and 112 trams.

Please note: We do not permit children under 12 years of age on the tour. This has more to do with the antique china served at the High Tea than the distance covered. However we can make special arrangements with parents.

Price: Individuals are $65 all-inclusive. Groups of 3+ receive a 10% discount.

FAQ: You will be emailed a longer FAQ upon registration. Please arrive on Saturday to the starting point (to be emailed to you) by 9:50am for a 10:00am start to the walk. Please dress for comfort and wear comfortable shoes taking into account the predicted weather forecast and the length of the walk (about 2.5km). Walkers with any health issues should be guided by the opinion of their doctor regarding activities of this nature. We suggest that you bring a bottle of water and umbrella with you.
